For Girls we are going to ask them to wear a maxi dress because they are much cheaper and easier to find than more formal dresses For Men we're going to ask that they wear Jeans with a dressy shirt We originally wanted everyone to dress really really fancy but we decided it'd be a little much to ask seeing it was so hard for us to find something for us to wear.

So here's my ideas: -Crackers with toppings such as: Hummus, Chicken Salad, Salsa, Cheddar Cheese, and Goat cheese. (not all on one cracker each on it's own cracker) -7 Layer Dip Cups -Fruit Kabobs -BBQ meatballs -homemade chicken nuggets -mac n cheese muffins Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the men and women who died while serving in the country's armed forces. The holiday, which is celebrated every year on the last Monday of May, was formerly known as Decoration Day and originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the war. By the 20th century, Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died while in the military service. It typically marks the start of the summer vacation season, while Labor Day marks its end. Many people visit cemeteries and memorials, particularly to honor those who have died in military service. Many volunteers place an American flag on each grave in national cemeteries. Annual Decoration Days for particular cemeteries are held on a Sunday in late spring or early summer in some rural areas of the American South, notably in the mountains. In cases involving a family graveyard where remote ancestors as well as those who were deceased more recently are buried, this may take on the character of an extended family reunion to which some people travel hundreds of miles. People gather on the designated day and put flowers on graves and renew contacts with kinfolk and others. There often is a religious service and a "dinner on the ground," the traditional term for a potluck meal in which people used to spread the dishes out on sheets or tablecloths on the grass. It is believed that this practice began before the American Civil War and thus may reflect the real origin of the "memorial day" idea. Memorial Day is not to be confused with Veterans Day; Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving, while Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans Learn More at: en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Memorial_Day Pop the balloon Each balloon has a piece of paper inside that gives a clue to find a prize. Each person gets to pop two chances to pop the balloons. 16 Questions This is variation of the popular "21 Questions." One person will think of a famous person. The birthday girl or boy can start. The rest of the party guests will then go around in a circle and ask up to 16 questions and try to guess who the famous person is. When someone guesses the correct answer, it becomes that person's turn to think of a famous person. If no one is able to guess the person, then the party guest will reveal the answer and choose another person. It's also really easy to play and lots of people enjoy playing it! Lie Detector For this sweet sixteen party game, pass out a piece of paper and pen to each of your guests. Have them write down 3 facts on the paper. Two of the facts must be truthful and one of the facts must be a lie. The lie can be as silly, outrageous, or as believable as you want it to be. Then, go around the group and have each person read off their facts. The rest of the group must then try and guess which of their facts is the lie! This is a great game to play prior to any of the other activities because it lightens the mood and gets everyone talking and laughing Project Sweet 16 The perfect sweet 16 dress is hard to find, so get your friends to design one for you in a variation on the popular bridal shower game played with toilet paper. Start by dividing your guests up into teams of two to four. Each team designs an outfit from newspaper and duct tape, then models it for a panel of judges. The birthday girl gets to decide which designers stay in and which are out. (Caylie probably will not wear the dresses at all but just judge) Since there are going to be a few kids at the party I was thinking of some things they could do. I decided I would make our back porch into a room they could be in. I'll put a small table out there and they can color, decorate a cupcake for themselves, watch a movie, and they can play with jump ropes and hula hoops in the backyard maybe too. I have a simple sketch below Karaoke I was thinking that maybe every half an hour or so we would stop the music and someone would come up and sing, or tell a riddle, or some kind of poem or a funny story about when Caylie was little or just anything they'd like to share! Pictures Since alot of people love taking pictures I think we should make a background and stick it to the wall then my mom will take pictures of everyone doing whatever pose they want and we can save the pictures for memories! I was also thinking maybe we could make some photo-booth props they can use to customize their pictures and make it all the more fun! Caricatures Another Idea I have is that maybe a caricature artist could draw, anyone who wants to get drawn. I do believe we are going to hire "CartoonYou Caricatures." because we like their prices and their pictures look great. She wants:
Cream cheese frosting Chocolate cake with rasberry filling for the bottom layer, Vanilla second layer, and lemon top layer. We also might make vanilla cupcakes She decided she wants Mexican food so here's my ideas for some stuff everyone would like. I'm trying to put some stuff people who don't like mexican food alot would like.
Ideas: Build your own Burrito (you get to pick your fillings!) Build your own Taco Salad (you get to pick your toppings!) 7 Layer dip Mexican Rice Chicken Tortilla soup 1. My famous cheese ball made into the shape of a cake pop (only decorated blue and white)
2. Chocolate covered strawberries. (teal sprinkles though) Food Table. Radio on top for music. Present table. Streamers on the wall behind it. A picture of Caylie on the table. A board with some of her pictures on it will go on the wall This is the way I plan on decorating the tables we eat at. (not tilting! I messed up the first drawing, and I did not draw all the chairs. On the wall I want to put balloons in the shape of a 16, I might use white balloons instead of black.
I've been so busy planning Caylie's sweet 16 birthday. She was going to plan it but it was really stressing her out, and she couldn't decide what she wants. So we've been calling dozens of Venues asking their price, and looking at ideas online, asking people about where they think a venue might be.
